SCU and stabilized nitrogen fertilizer products are both used for lawn applications.  Cheaper is not always better, when it comes to your lawn.  Over the years we have used many different fertilizer products to service our customer’s lawns.  When we were introduced to stabilized nitrogen products a few years ago, we thought we would give them a try.  After we did our own research on the product and reviewed the information available on the pros and cons of its application in turf grass, we decided to proceed with its implementation in our company.  We wanted a product that would give our lawns consistent green color, healthy grass blade growth and minimize our impact on the environment.  With stabilized nitrogen, we were able to meet and exceed all of our expectations.

Benefits of stabilized nitrogen products.

There are many benefits when using stabilized nitrogen in a turf grass application.  When you apply other types of fertilizer to your lawn, nitrogen begins to be lost immediately into the air.  The term volatilization refers to the evaporation of nitrogen into the air.  Since stabilized nitrogen does not break down at the same rate as urea there is less denitrification taking place.  Denitrification refers to the loss of nitrogen from the root zone of the grass plant.  Nitrogen can also be lost to leaching, which occurs when nitrogen is washed away by heavy rain.

We have found that our lawns are consistently greener for a longer period of time since we switched over to stabilized nitrogen products.  Stabilized nitrogen has also allowed us to reduce the chances of lawn burn because the product breaks down slower.  Since the products we use take longer to break down, they force the grass to work for the fertilizer and in turn creating a healthier lawn.  Giving your lawn a slow feed creates steady grass growth.  Using SCU fertilizer tends to give your lawn quicker top growth, but does not focus on the importance of a healthy maintainable growth level.
